Among the groups that I am before they released their first album, there Yuck. Formed by ex- Cajun Dance Party have all inclusive life, ie to let a pop british qu'on oublie trop rapidement pour un son Fender Jazzmaster/Jaguar, les reines du milieu indie 90s.
Through word-of-mouth on Twitter or Facebook made by artists, one discovers the groups they need to appreciate and listen. That's how I discovered Fanzine, through Facebook Cymbals Eat Guitars : "Check out Their Teenage Fanclub meets" When Weezer Weezer was good vibe. They'll Be With Us in London, Bristol, and BRIGHTON. "
Already, when I see a sentence like that, I can not but look at their pieces, which prove to be more than pretty. Their only major problem: they are so unknown that I do not even know if they have an album ... I'm just happy songs on their Myspace!
If other end with their top albums (here) , it is always with me one of the best concerts and festivals set!
Some figures are frightening:
- In 2010, I made 72 32 concerts and festivals days, a total of 105 days / evenings for a total of about 400 groups . We can say that I was at a musical event 1 / 3 of my time. - 13 festivals across Europe: Primavera Sound, Rock Werchter, Pukkelpop, Electric Picnic, best known for ATP, End Of The Road is much less, but this was by far the best.
There were many very good shows, but only a dozen really marked me.
I'm assuming I'm still young and that I have thoroughly enjoyed as I can (financially and professionally) Having had most U.S. this year, I decided do Lollapalooza 2011 , Perry Farrell's festival in Chicago, ILL in August, which celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2011. Knowing that I drool at the lineup the past few years, it will be a personal accomplishment to be there (prog 2008, 2009 and 2010: OMG ) As a bonus, Way Out West Gothenburg (Sweden) directly after, another good experience in sight. On July 2, 2011, I saw almost all of my top 50 last.fm, another win #.
If a lot of people did not have good memories of the last passage of Of Montreal, I, I really had great fun at this concert. A Cicada trampoline as we like.
I like Band Of Horses, although the last production was a bit disappointed. The audience for the Golden Arrow was instrumental in the good humor and joy that showed the group scene.
I imagined evil troupe Broken Social Scene keep the Maroquinerie but finally packing it well, it goes quiet. This intimate concert was really good, Kevin Drew played in great shape and perfect frontman Brendan Canning has spent his time jumping around. Unfortunately, I have found too remote at the Elysee-Montmartre, much worse than this concert.
The only concert in The National headliners Paris was at the height of their status: grand, beautiful and epic. Special mention at the end of the concert: Lucky You, Mr. November, Love and Terrible Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks.
Oh You're So Silent Jens. .. Swedish, with a full band very effective, has released a set of a large class, combining its classics and his next pieces. Already on CD is near perfection, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of his songs live.
First concert of Beach House in the capital, just after the release of third album Teen Dream. An intimate concert where we discover a exceptional singer Victoria Legrand, endearing and totally impressive on stage.
At the foot of the podium, the set of Editors at Rock Werchter. Famous for his hard fan on No Sound But The Wind I attended a set crescendo, from an atmosphere dead until everyone jump to the rhythm of flamethrowers Butterfly . Editors has completely returned Werchter: Memorable .
The reputation of this group live is almost more done, the tornado Les Savy Fav, but especially that of its frontman Tim Harrington, swept Paris. Despite a rather short set (12 songs), I took great pleasure to see Tim do anything to the public of New Casino, a permanent WTF .
There are few concerts where I felt such emotion, he had to stop to breathe lest looks threatening to turn to you. The grand Sam Beam, alone on stage, I screwed up a big slap it right and to the entire festival audience came to see. In addition, he made his cover of Such Great Heights during his recall.
Iron & Wine passes Paris and it's still not complete: I will never understand the French public.
Obviously, my first show of the legends of Oklahoma City were spectacular, the general crazy good show in the image of Wayne Coyne, always first on the kidding. Even though I saw the same set 3 times and there were no songs from The Soft Bulletin , you are obliged to show a happy concert like that. De nos jours où l'agressivité règne, ça fait pas plus mal.

Top groups in non-headliner Evening:

For 2011, I plan to appease "a little" (see the list of upcoming gigs right ...) but I do not like too see groups several times if it's not me marked, it limits me a bit already.
You are not fully blossomed your gifts at Christmas? It does not matter, because the father of the Internet offers interesting things!
- A live whole Superchunk on the Main Stage Primavera Sound 2010 the evening when I was not. It includes a Solicitating Precision Auto very nervous with Tim Harrington of Les Savy Fav vocals, even crazier than ever. That's where .
- The final concert of the year for Belle & Sebastian at home in Glasgow . Available in its entirety via NPR, 2 free hours of a group that should no longer present. Warning, the stream is only temporary!
Festival Review: Bowl 2 - ATP curated by Belle and Sebastian - Day 3
The only big flaw that you can blame the ATP is that the groups choose when they want to play and thus, the days are quite unbalanced. If Saturday was non-stop from 12pm to 2.30am, I did not see much on Sunday.
last day of the program: Stevie Jackson, Sons and Daughters, The Vaselines, Laetitia Sadier, Camera Obscura and Them Beatles.
Stevie Jackson (SCO Reds)
Stevie Jackson is a pillar of Belle & Sebastian. Guitar and sometimes singer, I moved over lunch to see his set where some fierce moved. He says that his set cash will include many covers, and it has no songs itself.
Stevie Jackson is definitely Twee as fuck in attitude, perhaps more than Stuart, who is not more than that eventually. He cover songs that I did not know, with friends from Glasgow musicians "Paul" or "Ringo". I'm not a fan of these songs, he is capable of the best (To Be Myself Completely ) and worst ( I'm Not Living In The Real World ) but it will only play Jonathan David date there.
Sons and Daughters (SCO Pavilion)
Among the groups in Scotland, there Sons and Daughters . Making a pretty rock music, their CD I was not specially marked and I felt somewhat the same thing live. is not bad at all but they have not managed to captivate me for an hour (for example: Belle & Sebastian can captivate me 3, or 4 hours I think).
Meanwhile, Stuart Murdoch, a great man, came to do an autograph session at the festival merchandise. He released a book The Celestial Cafe , and I took my autograph book to host ATP.
The Vaselines (SCO Pavilion)
The Vaselines was also part of the pair of 80s is partly responsible for this indie wave in Scotland since the 90s. Live, it was excellent, they always have a good songwriting and a distinctive sound that I like very much. Eugene and Frances played the last album titles Sex With An X (lots) and also best known for their catalog: Jesus Want Me For The Sunbeam, Molly's Lips, Son Of A Gun ...
The thing that really stands out from the duo, it is salacious banters Frances: "Sorry, I lost my voice Because of sperm in my throat last night" is part of the quotations that you will remember.
Laetitia Sadier (FR, Center Stage)
Small Hook to Center Stage to see Laetitia Sadier , Stereolab and former French! Fortunately she sings in French, but I do not know anything about his solo stuff . Unfortunately, she is alone on stage and it's pretty ... boring, then when I failed to be captivated like others.
She confessed that she will not play any songs by Stereolab and thus towards the Fish n 'chips to regain strength.
Camera Obscura (SCO Pavilion)
If The New Pornographers is a band I listened to most this year Camera Obscura was the last year. In original training (with Nigel trumpeter so), they did little to ready the same set as usual, except they played The Blizzard (their song Christmas last year) I
must admit that live Tracyanne Campbell is not always fair, but their CDs are just fabulous. If Camera Obscura has long been considered a sub- Belle and Sebastian The Band Tracy is rather a steady increase, which is not true of the group of Stuart Murdoch. However, I am much more excited to see concerts by Belle & Sebastian as the setlist changes every concert, which is not the case of Camera Obscura (says the guy totally jaded too see their favorite bands. )
Setlist: My Maudlin Career Swans Keep it Clean Let's Get Out This Country Honey In The Sun Forest and Sands Teenager French Navy The Sweetest Thing 80's fan Tears For Affairs James
The Blizzard Lloyd I'm Ready To Be Heartbroken If Looks Could Kill Come Back Margaret Razzle Dazzle Rose
Them Beatles (SCO, Center Stage)
The latest attraction of the festival that I could not miss was the cover Beatles band . I expected them a set worthy of the greatest rock songs Fab Four, not a sequence of the most famous / silly kind Yellow Submarine, Let It Be etc. ...
When I see Rickenbackers and Hofner of Paulo, I was already excited because Rickenbacker guitar = best ever remember. The Fab Four Scottish tumble dressed like the Beatles, 1962, before a crowd of onlookers like me and chain catalog "early career of The Beatles" Twist and Shout , A Hard Day's Night, Help and many others. ..
This is the first time in my life that I see security have fun and sing hymns that does even more. The Beatles are so many cults that everyone should know at least 75% of the discography, and even those not known. The cover band performs the same actions as singing the same micro etc ...
Small break where the group share Backstage at the bottom of the psyche atmosphere Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band , then return all the clothes in this album to play music from the late career group ( A Day In A Life very well sung ♥)
Not only do they have the original sound and a song very fair but a replica costume of the group. I love their sense of detail.
When Paul McCartney (very similar) announces the last song Get Back , the audience cheered so the cover band they came back to finish on one last song, and not any.
short, a very nice time with a good atmosphere, like the festival which will remain one of my events marking this year.
Top gigs: Edwyn Collins feat Teenage Fanclub Frightened Rabbit
Looking at my Spotifriday, I noticed that I had made one late September that I never posted, so gift End of year because this is the last in 2010 (and maybe ever?)
I suggest you update Spotify and find it all here .

Festival Review: Bowl 2 - ATP curated by Belle and Sebastian - Day 2
Écouter de la twee-pop comme Belle & Sebastian et aimer ça n'est pas donné à tout le monde. Je reconnais que je n'aime pas écouter ce genre de musique avec people, but when I'm home alone. A particular song-writing we do not like in France too.
This Saturday was the day of the headliner, but also the busiest day: The 1900s , Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan, Frightened Rabbit, Edwyn Collins, Julian Cope, Dean Wareham plays Galaxie 500, Wild Beasts , Field Music, The New Pornographers, Belle & Sebastian, Jenny & Johnny Secret Band and Crystal Castles.
The 1900s (U.S., Reds)
I was advised to listen The 1900s (not to be confused with The 1990s) but I had not found it marked on CD. Live, same thing is cool, there's the keyboard and violin but the compositions are fairly commonplace.
Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan (US / SCO, Center Stage)
Hawk I like the duo's latest album American-Scottish Isobel Campbell, former singer for Belle & Sebastian, whose potential is limited to voice my eyes, and especially Mark Lanegan , one of the greatest voices of rock U.S.. Isobel sometimes plays the cello but the influence of American singer of the Screaming Trees that I most felt. A good little concert to begin the afternoon.
Frightened Rabbit (SCO Pavilion)
Things are getting serious with Frightened Rabbit on the main stage, one of the best hopes of the indie scene right now. Since Ben Gibbard chose them for the first part of Death Cab For Cutie in October 2008, I am totally committed to this group. I repeat again and again, but they have an absolutely epic which takes you by the throat from the first notes. For nearly an hour, I was totally captivated by their songs as good as each other. Level setlist was pretty similar to what they had played at La Fleche d'Or in April.
Edwyn Collins (SCO, Center Stage)
Edwyn Collins , Scottish former Orange Juice state come a long way. Miraculously surviving a double brain haemorrhage in 2005, he managed to escape from his illness but he retains some scars but I do not know much about her discography unfortunately. An engaging character then, but I missed half the set because of a semi-clash. When I arrived in the Centre Stage: OH MY GOD TEENAGE FANCLUB. was one of the surprises of the event, Teenage Fanclub full musicians played for Edwyn time a complete set. There was even Ryan Jarman (singer of The Cribs) and Alex Kapranos (singer of Franz Ferdinand) who came to sing too. And there
: the slap an extraordinary fluidity and an audience totally to the cause of Scots, who struggles to walk with crutches.
They eventually the biggest hit of Edwyn: A Girl Like You then thanked the audience this big time by a Standing Ovation , this concert will remain the a highlight of Bowles 2 ...
Yes you also knew that it was not for Edwyn Collins
Julian Cope (UK Pavilion)
I do not know anything Julian Cope But Kathryn Calder warned me about the character a little crazy. All alone on stage and disguise hair metal, Julian surely satisfy the connoisseur but I did not like.
Dean Wareham Plays Galaxie 500 (U.S. Center Stage)
Galaxie 500 is one of the pearls dream-pop of the early 90s, the same rank as Mazzy Star, for example . After the band split in 1991, Damon & Naomi have formed a new group, while Dean Wareham back catalog of Galaxie 500 at his concerts. Live, he enlisted his wife Britta and other musicians but the bottom line is this: It's beautiful and hovering .
Wild Beasts (UK Pavilion)
Since I saw Wild Beasts in Dour, I have listened to it again Two Dancers I find really excellent. He holds hits like All The King's Men and We Still Got The Taste Dancing On Our Tongues which are largely due to the 2 falsetto singers. Large
voice, a good groove and rhythms are interesting for Wild Beasts of the groups to follow. The next album is being prepared (according to the singer), they were very frightened at the prospect of playing the new song that night.
Field Music (UK, Centre Stage)
Field Music is the only British band that I really liked this year. Second time I saw was very good but still lacked the ropes. However, I am better back in the set rocks like chamber pop. If you are looking for a group to buy the double album Measure fill your boredom.
The New Pornographers (CAN, Centre Stage)
No, you're not seeing things, there were many with Neko Case The New Pornographers in EUROPE . I'm singing love Kathryn Calder Neko but when there is still something else. It is this vocal power and the aggression in its parts (as in The Laws Have Changed ) that makes it even better. Setlist fairly predictable to direct Bowl 2, Carl explained that they wanted to finish fast cash to attend the set of Belle & Sebastian: 're not alone!
Belle and Sebastian (SCO Pavilion)
FINALLY, one of the few groups in my list of conquests! The stage was set for reinforced arch of the curator, and I managed to make my way to be close enough. Although I do not like the last album, B & S remains one of my cult bands that I like. They also begin with the first title Write About Love: I Did not See It Coming , I learned to love over the plays. The setlist was mixing pieces of all walks of hits like The Stars Of Track And Field, but also less well as the new song Stevie Jackson: I'm Not Living The Real World.
I confess, I tried to dance on a lot of twee songs (others do not bother) but some have had the chance to make it on the Main Stage, invited by Stuart on Dirty Dream # 2 and The Boy With The Arab Strap.
My greatest pride is to have had Judy And The Dream of Horses , shackled my favorite song with epic Sleep The Clock Around I really appreciate that too.
The surprise was Lazy Line Painter Jane with singer Those Dancing Days, which has good potential voice for it! The audience sang in chorus all the time, karaoke time ...
Excellent concert, but unfortunately too short (1:45), a group like that should see play 3 to 4 hours! Luckily I spent € 45 to Paris and I go to the Primavera!
Setlist: I Did not See it Coming I'm a Cuckoo Step Into My Office, Baby A Century of Fakers
I'm Not Living in the Real World If You ' re Feeling Sinister I Want the World to Stop Lord Anthony Sukie In The Graveyard
The Stars of Track And Field Write About Love Dirty Dream # 2 The Boy With The Arab Strap If You Find Yourself Caught in Love Judy and the Dream of Horses Sleep the Clock Around
Lazy Line Painter Jane Get Me Away From Here I'm Dying
Johnny And Jenny (U.S. Center Stage)
Jenny Lewis is the singer of Rilo Kiley. Johnny Rice is his boyfriend. Together, they released an album this year that I moderately appreciated. By cons, there live tonight, it was very nice, listen to music alone, more rock than indie rock band Rilo Kiley that anyway. Will that I listen to the album once.
Franz Ferdinand, The Secret Band "(CHS, Center Stage)
The mystery reigned around this secret band: Who was it? The reformation of Arab Strap? Or a group so large that the Centre Stage will reach its maximum capacity? Well, it was Franz Ferdinand !
I always wondered who was the greatest Scottish band, between Belle & Sebastian and Franz Ferdinand. After Bowl 2, I finally the answer! Musically Franz Ferdinand, I'm not a fan, they have good songs but it sounds too "British" for me. Live is another story, the songs are formatted for festivals and concerts to create the ambiance crazy. It makes me very anxious to move, the crowd was into it so I had a great time.
Unfortunately, the concert lasted an hour, finishing with a memorable Jacqueline.
Crystal Castles (CAN, Centre Stage)
Just history, I am still "see" Crystal Castles , group I've ever listened too. The lightshow was infected for photos, so there is none. The Canadian electro duo me not packed at all, Alice Glass spends his time meow, she has no voice and physically I do not like at all.
The atmosphere was not really there, at the same time after Belle and Seb ... here is what.
Festival Review: Bowl 2 - ATP curated by Belle and Sebastian - Day 1
T out began in 1999 when Stuart Murdoch (leader Belle and Sebastian) and his manager at the time Neil Robertson approached Barry Hogan (Founder of All Tomorrows Parties) to create an event in a summer camp in low season. They do not yet know what impact this event in the world of alternative music. This event was called Bowle and was the beginning of the famous weekend ATP that we know today. 10 years later, ATP was looking for a curator special for its 10 years, Barry has chosen Belle and Sebastian. What better than to invite the group that is famous for this kind of events: It bears the simple name of Bowl 2.
This kind of festival is unique in its Gender, curator selected the entire lineup (around 40 artists), decide the TV programs and preparing surprises at the festival. Among the most notable : Mogwai, Sonic Youth, Pavement, My Bloody Valentine, Pitchfork recently or Godspeed You! Black Emperor.
The TV program selected by ATP and Belle & Sebastian
Currently, the Weekend takes place over three days in the Butlins Resort to Minehead, in southwest England where the public housing in cabins very comfortable. Bordered by the sea (and thus possessing the beach), the site has a water park, activities like tree climbing and a huge tent closed for a stage for concerts and with bowling, billiards, arcade games , casino, supermarket, Pizza Hut, Burger King etc ... There's even a movie theater, which for the weekend, throwing the room serves as the film curator chose. The wide range of pints of Real Ale is clearly reasonable (£ 3.30) is the perfect festival what.
Program cinema
was my first ATP one of the largest European indie band of all time. Stuart has obviously tried to invite as many groups in Scotland, all Scottish cream was present (or ... almost too big Mogwai and Arab Strap no longer exists) They were selected from the lineup, 4 groups I listen to most often in recent years: The New Pornographers, Camera Obscura, Teenage Fanclub and obviously Belle & Sebastian. So with high excitement that I went to England, braving snow and bad weather.
the program the first day: Best Coast, Teenage Fanclub, The Zombies, Foals and The Go! Team.
Best Coast (U.S. Center Stage)
When Primavera Sound, I ate my sandwich in front Best Coast, who played the Pitchfork Scene . They were not as publicized as moderately now and I hooked. Their sound is not wrong, but I do not like the effects on the voice. However, live I found more rooted in his 90s on CD. An enjoyable concert but rather repetitive and linear ... like all-girl bands that I see.
Teenage Fanclub (SCO Pavilion)
course, the concert of the day was Teenage Fanclub . Review Norman, Raymond Gerard and make their greatest hits always excites me as much. During soundcheck, they played instrumentals that I did not know. In fact, it was not improv pieces but very specific ... surprise later! The audience seemed not to know too much either, he must not forget that this group has a reputation woefully low. Anyway, the setlist was quite similar to Paris ... except that not That Enough was played (at the expense of Shock & Awe and I Need Direction)
They will finish by a trio of songs that could be called "The Triad" Your Love Is The Place Where I Come From, Sparky's Dream and The Concept.
The Zombies (UK, Centre Stage)
The Zombies is my last big favorite. A little known gem of an album with legendary '60s, legendary Odessey and Oracle. I love them so much that they have surpassed the Beatles in my favorite band of that time, already very high in my esteem. One answer: my love for the piano and organ.
The thing they have in addition: Colin Blunstone , one of the greatest singers alive, a clear voice, powerful and graceful and do not forget Rod Argent's keyboard and psychedelic totally stunning live as on the tube Time Of The Season .
Time Of The Season
I missed 15 minutes of the concert because of Teenage Fanclub, but when I arrived at the Center Stage, I heard Rod speak and introduce Odessey & Oracle by the history that surrounds this album. He tells the group disbanded in the late 60s until the reformation of Zombies for the 40 and 50th anniversary of this album. A special concert was held in 2011 for this opportunity elsewhere. They will play a trafficking: A Rose For Emily , Care Of Cell 44 (which is the Dave Grohl's favorite song ever ) I Want Her She Wants Me, This Will Be Our Year and Time Of The Season.
After this special series, they will play other songs like Summertime and eventually She's Not There , the other tube group. Under the general acclamation and standing ovation from the Centre Stage, Rod announces that The Zombies released an album in 2011. I get out stunned by the performance of the group but also by the potential of Voice Colin, who despite his age, always sings both at the time.
Foals (UK Pavilion)
I love to see Foals live. CD and live, I think it's day and night. The live versions of Total Life Forever are extraordinary, they have parts that are not on the studio versions. Anyway, I found myself not when I listen back to the group on my iPod. They are still effective in 75% of their songs, even if I do not like Miami and others from the second album. I felt a great time out in the middle of the set. The light show was really good and effective, and I can even say that the level of service was the best concert Foals I did this year. OK, there was no madness in the audience, but regardless, the groove was there.
The Go! Team (UK, Centre Stage)
I never interested in this group until the festival. On CD, I was not too hung up and live is a bit too straight forward for me. All members of the group jump in any direction without stopping, and 2 batteries Setting the Pace for the singer who raps and moving around.
was very energetic (see over) and 23 hours, I did not really listen to head such a group: Directorate my chalet!
