I stood quite silent last week, I was on a business trip to Chicago, I took some pictures that I put on the blog soon. Meanwhile, back to the adventures in Peru, here are my notes from my second day of hiking the Inca Trail ...
Towards 4:00 in the morning is the sound of a rooster
who keeps his crowing that I wake up! At 5:00 AM a wearer wakes us in bringing us to our tent "coca tea"! It is 2 per tent. I'm with the only other solo traveler. His name Maurice and comes from Holland. All trips of his life had intended to make treks!
Lunch at 6:00 AM and then we start to 6:40. It was definitely the toughest day! We climbed to the highest point of the trek, 4215 meters down after more than 700m! The climb was very difficult. I had no energy going up, my body not having enough red blood cells to carry the little O2 to my muscles. The climb was really a mental challenge of motivation! Rendering the passage (the highest point of the trail, but between two vertices) we stopped and there the "mountain sickness" started: headache ... which meant that I went down very very slowly to the camp which was in a valley.
At the camp, there was a toilet block (probably built in the 70s) and all organized groups seemed to sleep there (while the other nights, campsites are different for each group). I completely forgot to take pictures, but I am creating a website in arriving for everyone sharing his photos. (Which I did because I had collected all the emails, but nobody has put his photos from me I will have to relaunch the ...) I arrived the camp to 13.30, but the slow numbers are arrived at 18.00! These were the two long teeth in old English: Wendy and Daisy! I spent the afternoon nap! It finally got off my headache. Sleep early as 5:00 again tomorrow morning!
